Taiwan's Betty Chen will take an important step in her racing career and will contest her first international campaign outside of Asia as she joins Century Motorsport for the upcoming Intelligent Money British GT Championship in a BMW M4 GT3.

The brand-new race car from Munich was brought to global success for the first time by fellow Asian female racer Samantha Tan two weeks ago at the 12H of Mugello and now Chen will have the task to bring it to British GT debut, collecting experience in a very competitive environment in Europe after racing mainly in touring cars and GT series in China.

“I started my career in 2018 with some GT3 racing in Asia but knew the grassroots of motorsport had always been in the United Kingdom,” stated Chen. “So it is a privilege to have the chance to join Century Motorsport in the 2022 British GT Championship and further establish my CV outside of Asia.”

Century Motorsport – the reigning GT4 class team's and drivers' champion – will announce Chen's teammate next week, as the Taiwanese will be the Am element in a Pro-Am line-up.

Betty Chen made her GT3 debut in the 2019 China GT Championship with a M6 GT3 but was forced to take a break in 2020 after all motorsport activities were put on hold in Asia during the Covid crisis. She had appearances in touring cars before contesting the 2022 Dubai 24 Hour race with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 operated by Leipert Motorsport.

The 22-year-old will become the first driver from Taiwan to race in the British GT championship. However, she won't be the only woman: Swedish driver and former pro-Am GT4 champion Mia Flewitt will return to the series with brand-new team 7TSIX, in a Mclaren 720S GT3.

The 30th season of British GT Championship is set to get underway at Oulton Park on April 16/18. After a 7 event-calendar that also includes the round at Spa Francorchamps, Belgium, the series will crown its champions at Donington Park in October.
