Carrie Schreiner, Marcelina Czepiel join BMW M2 Cup as part of DTM programme

It will be a busy season for Schaeffler ambassador Carrie Schreiner: the German racer will add to her racing programs 6 races in the brand-new BMW M2 Cup. Part of the DTM support package, the series also sees a full-time female entry: young Polish driver Marcelina Czepiel.

It will certainly be a busy year for young German racing sensation Carrie Schreiner.

Having competed in the premier German-based GT3 championship ADAC GT Masters in the past two years, the 22-year old announced a move to the Italian GT Championship with Ferrari powerhouse AF Corse.

At the wheel of the #8 488 GT3 Evo, Schreiner will race in both the Sprint and Endurance championships.

Alongside her racing commitments in Italy, though, Schreiner confirmed her presence in the Nürburgring Endurance Championship (NLS), where she is again part of the 'Girls Only' team by WS Racing with fellow female drivers Célia Martin, Pippa Mann and Christina Nielsen.

With WS Racing planning to extend its schedule to a LMP3 program, Schreiner is also likely to be involved in new exciting challenges for the Giti Tire-supported all-female squad.

The young lady from Völklingen is also expected to enter selected races in the GTC Series, as part of the ADAC events.

But it's not over yet: as a brand ambassador for German technology brand Schaeffler, Carrie Schreiner announced that she will enter 6 out of the 12 rounds of the brand new BMW M2 Cup in 2021. The series will support DTM and will be run in partnership with experienced race team Tolimit Motorsport. The series is designed to allow young up-and-coming talents to prove themselves on the DTM stage.

“With the BMW M2 Cup, we want to provide an attractive, affordable platform for talented drivers, allowing them to prove their driving skills in the DTM environment and to allow them to make the step up if they are successful,” said Thomas Felbermair, BMW's Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Carrie has already tested the car at the pre-season test at Lausitzring three weeks ago, and is ready to take on the new challenge with the third brand this season.

The final entry list has not been fully released, but Schreiner won't be the only female racer on the grid: Polish lady Marcelina 'Mery' Czepiel will also join the field for a full season campaign.

"I will compete in the full season of the German BMW M2 Cup, a series organized by BMW Motorsport and Project 1 Drivetime." - Czepiel wrote.

"I've had already pre-season test at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz and I can not wait to race!

We'll be racing on very interesting race tracks: Norisring, Lausitzring, Nürburgring, Spielberg, Assen and Hockenheim. I haven't had a chance to race on any of them, so I'm very excited!"

Czepiel has previously raced in several touring car series in her home country and entered the KIA Platinum Cup in 2019. Her experience also includes appearances in the Emirates, as she drove on the F1 venue of Yas Marina Circuit in the NGK UAE Procar Championship.

The inaugural round should have been contested on the iconic Norisring street circuit, but the race has been postponed by DTM. Lausitzring (23-25 July) should then become the season opener of the BMW one make series.
