Chloe Chambers scores class podium and top-5 in Lamborghini Super Trofeo NA at Indianapolis
Chloe Chambers continued her rookie Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America campaign at Indianapolis, securing a Pro-Am podium in Race 1 and a further top-five finish in Race 2 after two recovery drives, adding another solid haul of points to RAFA Racing Team's championship campaign.
Chloe Chambers continued her rookie Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America campaign at Indianapolis, securing a Pro-Am podium in Race 1 and a further top-five finish in Race 2 despite difficult qualifying positions leaving the #81 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 with some ground to recover.
Chambers and teammate Ian Porter finished third in Pro-Am in the opening race after a good recovery drive, before Chambers drove the closing stint in Race 2 to bring the car home fifth in class, adding another solid haul of points to their championship campaign.
Chambers arrived at Indianapolis on the back of her strongest weekend of the season at Road America, where she had taken her maiden Pro-Am victory after a spectacular recovery drive from the back of the field in Race 2.
The American returned to GT racing in 2026 following two seasons in F1 Academy, joining RAFA Racing alongside Porter for her first Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America campaign. She adapted quickly to the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, showing particularly strong racecraft at Laguna Seca despite starting both races from the back because of qualifying problems, before claiming her first Pro-Am podium with second place at Watkins Glen. Road America then brought a second-place finish in Race 1 followed by her breakthrough class victory, confirming her rapid progress.
Indianapolis presented another challenge, however, with the RAFA Racing entry qualifying out of position. Chambers drove the #81 Lamborghini in the opening qualifying session and recorded a 1:26.492, putting the car eighth in Pro-Am and 17th overall for the first race.
Porter took over for the second qualifying session, but the session was disrupted by a red flag with six minutes remaining, at a point when relatively few drivers had set representative times. Once the session resumed, Porter produced a 1:27.6 that initially moved him into fourth in Pro-Am, but the lap was subsequently deleted for track limits.
With the times tumbling in the final seconds, Porter ultimately recorded a 1:31.918 and was left starting Race 2 from 32nd overall and sixth in Pro-Am, creating another significant recovery challenge for the RAFA Racing pairing.
Race 1 began on a damp track, creating difficult grip conditions as the field launched into the opening lap. Chambers made an exceptional start and immediately took advantage of the chaos unfolding around her. A spinning car was followed a few corners later by a heavy incident involving Siderman and Whiting, with both cars sustaining significant damage and the Safety Car being deployed.
Chambers emerged from the opening lap having avoided the trouble and climbed all the way to 13th overall and fifth in Pro-Am. The race remained neutralised for an extended period while marshals cleared the damaged cars and debris, with the field preparing to return to green-flag racing with 38 minutes remaining.
Chambers made another clean restart and continued her forward progress, although an AM-class car now separated her from the next Pro-Am rivals. She passed Bullock to gain another overall position and moved further into the top 13, while also closing rapidly on Miller ahead.
Miller was battling Conwright's Pro-class car, and once Conwright cleared him, Chambers began closing the gap herself. She set a 1:27.4 and continued gaining tenths on Miller, although the latter responded with his best lap of the race one tour later.
As the pit window approached, Chambers brought the #81 Lamborghini into the pits from fifth in Pro-Am after completing a highly effective opening stint. Although her driving time in the opening race was relatively short, she had made the most of her stint by recovering several positions from the back of the field.
Porter rejoined fifth in Pro-Am and soon came under pressure from Wyatt Foster, who moved past for the position. Porter then turned his attention to Andrew Heffring, who had also lost a position to Foster.
The RAFA Racing driver gained approximately a second on Heffring and caught the Kaizen Autosport entry on lap 19 before completing the pass for fifth place on lap 20.
Further incidents occurred at Turn 10 as three cars spun, although all were able to continue without another caution period. Boucher, who had been running second in Pro-Am, was among those involved.
Porter subsequently moved into fourth in Pro-Am, although Foster had established a gap that was proving difficult to close. Behind, Porter maintained an eight-second margin to Lindsay Brewer ahead, with the two cars matching each other's pace.
The gap to Brewer eventually grew beyond 11 seconds, although Porter continued to pull away from Heffring. Miller then moved into fifth and began closing on Porter during the final laps, setting up a tense finish.
A drive-through penalty for Foster for passing under yellow flags ultimately changed the order: Foster, who had been running second in Pro-Am, was removed from contention for the position, allowing Porter and Chambers to be classified third in class.
The RAFA Racing pairing therefore crossed the line in third in Pro-Am, returning Chambers to the podium for the second consecutive round.
The second race presented an even larger recovery challenge, with Porter starting 32nd overall and eighth in Pro-Am after the difficult second qualifying session.
Porter made a strong start and immediately began working his way through the field. Fitzpatrick ended up in the barriers while Connor Qvale also spun and made contact with the barriers in a separate incident, but Porter avoided the trouble and continued moving forward.
He cleared several cars from the LB Cup and AM classes to reach 21st overall while remaining eighth in Pro-Am, with Fuentes the closest class rival approximately three seconds ahead.
Porter settled into the 1:27s and continued to increase his pace, eventually catching Andrew Heffring and completing the pass for eighth in Pro-Am on lap 10.
The race then remained green despite another incident involving Mathieu Boucher, who crashed from sixth in Pro-Am and made contact with the tyre barriers at Turn 5 before managing to rejoin. The incident nevertheless promoted Porter to seventh in class and 19th overall.
As the pit window opened with 30 minutes remaining, Porter completed another lap before pitting on lap 14, having cycled as high as third in Pro-Am during the pit sequence.
Chambers climbed back into the #81 Lamborghini and rejoined sixth in class, with the strategy having worked well for RAFA Racing.
She quickly moved into fifth in Pro-Am and began looking further forward, circulating in the 1:27s while also having to manage pressure from Mateo Siderman behind. At the same time, Chambers was trying to close on Anthony Bullock's AM-class entry ahead.
Siderman eventually completed the pass on lap 22, dropping Chambers back to sixth in Pro-Am. However, both drivers were rapidly catching Paul Nemschoff ahead, gaining more than two seconds per lap.
Chambers eventually made her move on lap 25 and cleared Nemschoff to reclaim fifth in Pro-Am. Siderman was approximately four seconds further ahead by that stage, but Chambers nevertheless maintained a consistent 1:28 pace to the finish, keeping a close eye on Miller behind as he gradually gained a few tenths but was unable to mount a serious challenge.
Chambers crossed the finish line fifth in Pro-Am, completing another strong recovery drive after the team's difficult qualifying position.
The Indianapolis weekend therefore produced another significant result for Chambers and RAFA Racing, with a Pro-Am podium on Saturday followed by a top-five finish on Sunday. Although qualifying left the #81 Lamborghini with considerable ground to recover in both races, Chambers and Porter consistently fought their way back up the order, with Chambers once again demonstrating the racecraft and consistency that have characterised her rookie season.
Following the Indianapolis round, Chambers and Porter sit fifth in the Pro-Am championship standings with 70 points, with one event remaining. The 2026 season will conclude at the Lamborghini World Finals at Monza, Italy, from October 21-23, where the RAFA Racing pairing will look to close out the campaign on a strong note.
