Welsh driver Ella Lloyd completes the JHR Developments line up for the upcoming British F4 Championship: the 18-year-old from Pontypridd will join former F1 Academy driver Chloe Chong, Joel Bergström and Leo Robinson at the 2021 title winning outfit.

Lloyd will make her single seater debut, moving from the GT5 class of the Ginetta GT Championship, where she was Vice-Champion last year with an impressive 10 race victories, 8 podiums and 6 fastest laps to her name. She had previously competed in the highly-competitive Ginetta Junior Championship, scoring points in 60% of the races.

“I'm very happy to be joining JHR Developments this season", Lloyd said. "I started testing with the team in the middle of last year and that has been going well. They're a good team, so I'm looking forward to making my British F4 debut."

The switch to formula cars, Lloyd has completed an extensive testing program starting from last year, and will make her racing debut this weekend at the Formula Winter Series Motorland Aragon round, in a Rodin Motorsport entry. Ella will in fact enter the final two rounds of the Spanish-based championship in preparation for her full-time commitment in British F4.

“The car is very different to what I've raced before as it has aerodynamics, and managing the tyres is more crucial in this series", she explained. "We've got more testing lined up and we'll keep learning before the season starts so we’re in a good place at round one.”

Ella - who is also a show jumper and competitive skier - is the fourth female driver to be announced for the 2024 British F4: Lloyd and Chong are joined also by Nina Gademan (Fortec Motorsports) and Alpine junior Abbi Pulling (Rodin Motorsport). The season is set to start in April at Donington Park and features 10 triple-header rounds.
