Young Swedish racer Emma Wigroth had another highly productive weekend in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia, securing second and third place finishes at Rudskogen Motorsenter during the fifth round of the Porsche one-make series.

Wigroth, who transitioned from single-seaters to the Porsche Cayman GT4 earlier this year, has made impressive progress throughout the season. With a stellar performance in the Norwegian round, she brings her podium total up to five this year, marking her third consecutive weekend on the podium.

Her first-ever double podium came at Jyllandsringen in the third race meeting, and she then topped her personal best finish with a second place at Gelleråsen Arena, showcasing improved pace once again. Aiming to maintain momentum, Wigroth headed into the Porsche Festival in Norway with confidence.

However, the weekend started off with a challenge, as a tricky qualifying session put her on the back foot. The WestCoast Racing driver qualified fourth among the GT4 entries, with a best lap of 1:28.210, meaning she would need to fight her way forward in the two Saturday races.

And she delivered brilliantly: at lights out, Wigroth made a brilliant start, moving up into second place and gaining three positions overall on the first lap.

Emma maintained a strong run, holding second in class and fending off Krister Andero, while class leader Theo Jernberg pulled away, gaining a few seconds in th efirst half of the race.

As the race progressed, Andero closed in, but Wigroth defended well, always keeping him at bay. They engaged in a great battle for second in GT4, with Andero attempting a move at Turn 1 on lap 11. He went deep, and Wigroth confidently switched back to retain her position.

On the final lap, Wigroth delivered another flawless defensive drive, securing second place with Andero just one-tenth behind at the finish line.

Starting from fourth again in the GT4 class in Race 2, Wigroth had another fantastic launch, gaining three positions overall and once again moving into second place behind Jernberg.

Much like in Race 1, Jernberg opened up a lead in the GT4 class, leaving Wigroth and Andero to battle for second, with only a few tenths separating them. This time, Andero found a way through on lap 6, but Wigroth stayed close and held off Søholm, who was running a second behind in fourth.

In the second half of the race, Wigroth defended fiercely from Søholm, whose aggressive driving kept the pressure on. However, she held him off well, while also keeping an eye on Markus Lönnroth closing in from behind.

Jernberg dominated the weekend in GT4, finishing ahead of Andero and Wigroth, who stepped on the rostrum for the second time of the day after gaining a position at the start. Wigroth once again demonstrated strong racecraft and defensive driving, earning her fifth podium of the season and bouncing back from a challenging qualifying.

"Happy about the outcome of this weekend and that I managed to turn it around after a bad performance in qualifying", she said. "Coming home with two more podiums and important points added to the championship! Feels good to have been on the podium the last three race weekends," Wigroth concluded.

With 150 points to her name, Emma Wigroth now sits third in the GT4 class championship standings, 33 points behind Krister Andero, with one round remaining. The season finale of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia is scheduled for 20-21 September at Mantorp Park, as the series returns to Swedish soil.
