An Iron Dames all-female line-up will return to one of Europe’s premier GT platforms in 2026, as Sarah Bovy and Laura van den Hengel join forces for a full-season campaign in the GT2 European Series.
Both part of the Iron Dames programme, the duo will share a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup entered under the team’s banner, marking a high-profile return of the all-female crew to a championship that continues to grow in prominence within the SRO ecosystem.
The GT2 European Series features five rounds in support of GT World Challenge Europe. The Bovy-van den Hengel represents the return of Iron Dames to a high profile sportscar series, providing a stage to the experienced Silver-rated Bovy and the emerging talent van den Hengel to prove themselves in the ProAm category.
Following the recent announcement of her return to the 24 Hours of Spa, Bovy has now confirmed her full-time 2026 racing program. Bovy has established herself in recent years as one of the leading female endurance racers on the international stage. Initially joining the Iron Dames line-up as a Bronze-rated driver before earning promotion to Silver status, she has consistently demonstrated both speed and racecraft across top-tier championships.
She has in fact competed in series such as the European Le Mans Series - where she claimed three victories - as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA, GT World Challenge Europe. Her endurance résumé also includes five starts at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and three appearances at the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Laura van den Hengel has meanwhile rapidly emerged as one of the most promising bronze-rated talents in GT racing, achieving a remarkable rise in just two years since transitioning from karting directly into Porsche GT3 Cup machinery. Building her career without major financial backing, the Dutch driver has relied on sheer determination to progress through the ranks. After a formative rookie season in GT Cup Europe, her potential did not go unnoticed, earning her a place in the “Supported by Iron Dames” programme at the start of 2025.
Her breakthrough came during the 2025 season, where she has been a frontrunner in the ProAm class, secured her first class wins to eventually claiming the GT Cup Europe ProAm championship, becoming the first woman to win a GT Sport title.
Iron Dames therefore will continue their mission of highlighting their Women Driven by Dreams journey throughout this new challenge in the GT2 European Series with a new extremely promising line-up.
"I joined the Iron Dames in 2021 and it changed my live", said Sarah Bovy. "Together we carry some incredibly important values, we bring a message to the world : when we are women driven by dreams, you can’t stop us."
"Racing with Laura in GT2 European Series is a great opportunity to bring some new milestones and you can count on us to fight with the strong spirit of the Iron Dames.”
“I’m really excited to be part of this program", continued van den Hengel, who steps up to the team's main program. "Racing alongside Sarah, with all her experience, is a huge opportunity for me to learn and grow throughout the season. After winning the championship last year, this feels like the start of an exciting new chapter in my career.”
The 2026 season will feature five double-header events across some of Europe’s most iconic circuits. Following the opening round at Monza on 30–31 May, the championship will visit Misano World Circuit, Spa-Francorchamps, Zandvoort - thus featuring a home event for both drivers - and conclude at Portimao on 17-18 October.
