Maggie Webster enjoyed a positive weekend in the latest round of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship at Croft where she claimed three podium finishes in class.

Webster dealt with the wet conditions superbly and finished all three races inside the top-12 overall, displaying speed and confidence in her Ford Fiesta. Her best result came in race three where she finished ninth overall after a superb battle for position with MK7 class driver Jack Burgess.

After a challenging start to the season for Webster, she enjoyed an upturn in form in the latest round of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship at Oulton Park. More than doubling her total points tally in just one weekend, Maggie finished second in the MK6 class during both races, while scoring her maiden overall top-10 result in race two. As a result, the young driver was confident of consistently challenging for places within the midfield as the racers headed to Croft for the next round of the season.

Conditions were damp for qualifying on Saturday morning with Webster looking to bounce back from a difficult day of testing on Friday. The young racer was immediately on the pace and targeting her best starting position to date. Improving with her final laps of the session, Maggie ended qualifying an impressive 11th place overall, third in the MK6 class, to cement a top-half starting position for the opening race of the weekend.

Fresh off her best qualifying performance of the season, Webster was looking to make further strides in race one of the weekend. Conditions were still damp and greasy with Maggie making a difficult start as she lost a number of positions following contact and a spin at the first turn. Ending the first lap in 18th position overall, third in the MK6 class, Webster was able to catch up to the rear of the field as the safety car was then deployed.

When the racing resumed on lap three, Webster was immediately on the move and was showing superb confidence in the tricky conditions. Overtaking Hayden Grey, Bobby Holmes and Harry Lindley, Maggie was quickly back into the top-15, before moving ahead of both Joshua Watts and Jenson Mason on lap four.

Jack Sant was the next car ahead, with Webster working hard to force her rival into a mistake. She was able to find a way through on lap five. A red flag was then displayed on lap six which halted her progress, nonetheless Maggie had recovered brilliantly to finish in 12th position overall, third among the MK6 drivers.

Following her superb fightback in the opening race of the weekend, Webster lined up 12th on the grid courtesy of her race one finishing position. Wet conditions remained at Croft and Maggie made a better start than in race one, losing just one position and settling into midfield at the end of the first lap. Webster’s times were competitive in the tricky conditions and she was targeting a maiden top-10 result of the weekend.

On lap four, Jacob Hodgkiss retired with damage and this promoted Maggie to 12th overall with the safety car being deployed shortly after. As a result, just two laps remained when racing got back underway and Webster was able to pass Thomas Merritt in the closing stages to finish in 11th position overall, later promoted to tenth, third among those in the MK6 class.

Webster lined up tenth on the grid for the final race of the weekend based on her race two result. Due to worsening track conditions, the race began under the safety car to allow the young racers to get a feel for the grip levels. As the racing got underway in earnest, Maggie was immediately engaged in a close battle with Jack Burgess. The pair ran side-by-side at the start of lap six, with Webster up to ninth, second in class, following a spin for Callie Clifford.

Webster and Burgess continued to contend eighth position during the middle portion of the race with good respect shown between the two young drivers. The battle for position also displayed the even performance between the MK6 and MK7 Ford Fiestas. After moving into eighth on lap six, Burgess reclaimed the spot a lap later with Maggie holding ninth position to the checkered flag to end a positive weekend of racing at Croft, while securing runner-up honours in the MK6 class.

Webster enjoyed an excellent debut trip to Croft with the young driver showing good speed in tricky conditions. Finishing all three races inside the top-12 overall, while claiming second place in the MK6 class in race two, Maggie has built significant momentum in the last two rounds of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship.

The young racers will be back on track on the weekend of August 17th/18th as they tackle the Silverstone National circuit.
