Maggie Webster continued her superb start to the season in the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship as she finished third in the Am class at Oulton Park, securing her third podium finish in five races. It was a challenging weekend for Morgan Kidd, who achieved a best result of tenth in the Pro class bouncing back from a retirement.

Maggie Webster continued her superb start to the season in the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship as she finished third in the Am class at Oulton Park. Webster secured her third podium finish in five races to remain in early championship contention after the first two meetings of the campaign.
It was a challenging weekend for Morgan Kidd who achieved a best result of tenth in the Pro class. After battling technical issues throughout testing, Kidd retired from race one after an off-track moment, before banking valuable points in a disrupted race two.
In the season opening event at Snetterton, both Kidd and Webster enjoyed positive starts to the year in their respective classes. Competing in the Pro class, JRW Motorsport driver Kidd made excellent progress during the course of the event. A fantastic charge through the field to eighth position in race two allowed her to start on pole position for race three. Kidd held her own superbly and as a result, she equalled her career best result with a fourth-place overall result to end the weekend.
Webster, meanwhile, enjoyed a hugely encouraging debut in the Am class by securing two Am class podiums. Stepping up from the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, Maggie established herself as a front-runner among the less experienced drivers and narrowly missed out on an overall top-10 result. Webster was now looking to fight for Am class victories as the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship arrived at Oulton Park.
Racing on the Oulton Park International posed a new challenge for both Kidd and Webster with their past experiences of Oulton Park coming on the Island layout. With new overtaking opportunities and challenging parts of the circuit to learn, both drivers were keen to get off to a fast start in Saturday morning’s qualifying session.
Conditions were cool, but dry for qualifying and as the drivers looked to build temperature in their tyres, a red flag was shown which halted the session. Following an extensive cleanup, the session was restarted for just seven minutes with all of the drivers still searching for a representative lap time.
With just three flying laps available to the drivers, it was a challenge to extract the potential from the tyres while managing the traffic. Despite battling technical issues throughout Friday testing, Kidd did a fantastic job to set a time of a 1:54.798 which placed her seventh overall, sixth in the Pro class. Webster also impressed in just her second event in the series as she qualified 11th overall, third in the Am class on a 1:55.499.

Race one of the weekend took place on Saturday morning with Kidd starting from the fourth row of the grid and Webster from the sixth row. As the drivers entered Old Hall corner, contact was made at the front of the field with Gary Miller spinning Simon Horrobin. This resulted in Horrobin’s car hitting the barrier on the exit of the corner and the race was subsequently red flagged.
Both Kidd and Webster escaped from this incident without any damage and lined on the grid for a full restart. Due to earlier timetable delays and the red flag period, the revised duration for race one was fifteen-minutes. Following an additional green flag lap, the drivers got away cleanly and all made it through Old Hall bend without incident.
As the drivers approached the Shell Oils hairpin on lap one, Alistair Kellett slowed at the head of the field and this caused the drivers behind to scatter. Kidd had to take avoiding action across the grass and after an extremely rough ride over a series of large bumps, she was forced to retire from the race.
Webster was able to make progress and claim the lead in the Am class at the end of the first lap, while moving into ninth position overall. Am class rival Jason O’Connell was directly behind Webster and he claimed the lead as the drivers entered Cascades on lap two. Luke Warr also moved ahead as Webster was looking to get into her rhythm during the early portion of the race.
Webster was now defending from Chris Blackburn and after maintaining her position well, Daniel Robinson was the next driver to apply pressure. Webster responded and on lap four, she set a personal best time and Maggie was now the fifth fastest driver on track. Webster was looking to make progress in the middle portion of the race, however the red flags were displayed after a sizeable incident for John Cooper who had rolled.
The race was unable to be resumed and as a result, Webster secured a podium result with a third-place finish in the Am class while claiming her first overall top-10 result of the season. After failing to finish in race one, Kidd was looking to bounce back in race two with her JRW Motorsport team working hard to make repairs to the car.

After a superb job from the team, Kidd was able to line up on the grid for the second and final race of the weekend on Saturday afternoon. The grid positions were based on the results from race one and therefore Kidd started from the rear of the field, while Webster lined up from tenth overall, third in the Am class.
Kidd made a good start as she gained two positions on lap one, while Webster encountered a technical issue with the turbo boost and unfortunately entered the pits. Maggie rejoined the race and remained on the lead lap and following a safety car on lap three, she had the opportunity to catch the rear of the field. After Harry Walsh’s car had stopped on the exit of Old Hall corner, the race was neutralised with Morgan now up to 13th overall, 11th in the Pro class.
Webster was still battling technical issues and she re-entered the pits under the safety car, falling off the lead lap as a result. The race resumed with five minutes remaining and after returning to the track, Webster drove smartly to stay out of the way of the race leaders.
Kidd remained in contention for a top-10 finish and was chasing fellow Pro class driver James Pope at the restart. The JRW Motorsport driver ran a series of personal best times to close out the race and she capitalised on an issue for Simon Horrobin to gain one position on the final lap. Kidd took the chequered flag in 12th position overall, 10th in the Pro class, while Webster also made it the finish to bank valuable championship points in 17th overall, seventh in the Am class.
Although it was a challenging race two for both Kidd and Webster, both drivers showed good speed throughout the event. Kidd’s qualifying performance was especially impressive after battling technical issues on Friday, while Webster added to her ever-growing Am class podium tally.
The next round of the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship takes place at Anglesey on the weekend of June 7th/8th.
