Nerea Martí secured her first victory of the season in the Iberian Supercars Endurance series with a standout performance in the second round of the 2025 season at Jarama. The BMW España Motorsport duo of Martí and José Manuel de los Milagros took a victory and a second-place finish, establishing themselves as one of the top contenders in the GT4 Pro category.

Martí and her teammate De los Milagros — who has partnered with her since her GT debut in 2021 — were back behind the wheel of the BMW M4 GT4 Evo for round two of the championship. After a challenging season opener at Portimão, where unpredictable weather and poorly timed safety cars meant they could only manage ninth-place finishes, the team arrived at Jarama looking for redemption.

With nearly two months between rounds, the team focused on returning to the front of the field through testing and preparation. Following a third-place finish in the 2024 championship, the target was clear: fight for top positions in the GT4 Pro class once again.

Martí, who has combined single-seater programs with GT racing over the past four years, is now part of the BMW M Racing Academy — an initiative by the German brand to support the most promising GT4 drivers in their progression up the sportscar ranks. The 2025 Iberian Supercars campaign is therefore an important opportunity to make her mark.

On Saturday morning, Nerea and De los Milagros led both overall and the GT4 Pro class times in the official practice session — in a strong start for the BMW Spain Motorsport team.

Qualifying 1 followed in the afternoon under sweltering 30°C temperatures. Martí was first in the #81 BMW M4 GT4. After an initial 1:41.0 lap, the session was red-flagged. Once resumed, Nerea improved to a 1:38.708, placing her fourth overall. She then found another tenth on her following lap, staying P4 and just two-tenths from pole in a tightly packed session.

In Q2, José Manuel de los Milagros immediately jumped to second on his first flying lap and then grabbed provisional pole with a 1:37.194. A red flag with four and a half minutes to go interrupted proceedings, and when the session resumed, few drivers were able to improve. De los Milagros therefore held on to claim pole position overall.

Sunday morning featured the first 50-minute race of the weekend. Martí lined up fourth on the grid and made a strong start, immediately challenging the Toyota Supras of Francisco Abreu and José Carlos Pires while also defending from Roberto Faria. She ultimately held fourth position into Turn 1.

As the two Toyotas tried to pull away, Martí and Faria remained locked in a close battle, trading times within a second of each other. Nerea matched Faria’s pace in the 1:38.6 range and also held off pressure from the #10 NM Racing Team Mercedes.

Her consistency helped her open a buffer to the cars behind, and she maintained a solid fourth place through the stint. On lap 13, Martí pitted as the window opened, handing over to De los Milagros after a clean and steady drive.

After the round of pit stops, De los Milagros rejoined in fourth overall and in GT4 Pro. A safety car on lap 17 closed the gap ahead and offered an opportunity to challenge for the podium.

At the restart with 10 minutes to go, De los Milagros attacked Mathieu Martins in the #77 Aston Martin, but ran deep into Turn 1, briefly going off and dropping a position to the #10 Mercedes now driven by Tomas Granzella.

Undeterred, De los Milagros began a determined charge, passing both Granzella and Guedes on lap 22 to reclaim third and begin chasing Martins again. Abreu retired from the lead with a mechanical issue, leaving Martins and De los Milagros effectively fighting for the win — separated by just 0.6s and over 3 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack.

On lap 24, De los Milagros made a superb move on the inside to overtake Martins. Despite a strong response from the Aston Martin driver, the BMW Spain driver held firm to take the lead with 3 minutes remaining. He then resisted late pressure to secure a remarkable win — the first for the team in the Iberian Supercars.

"The race was super interesting", Nerea summarized. "We started P4 and we were fighting until the end — it was a super fun race, especially for José who came out there in all the battles and also had to come back and fight a lot, so it was a perfect race."

"We take away some great memories and a first position, which I think we also needed to be at the top again and gain that confidence for all of us, both us and the team."

In the afternoon, the second race offered another strong opportunity. De los Milagros started from pole position, alongside Tomas Guedes in the Speedy Motorsport Toyota GR Supra GT4. Due to their Race 1 win, the BMW Spain team however now had a 10-second pit stop handicap to overcome.

De los Milagros made a clean start, defending the inside line into Turn 1 to retain the lead. The race was however quickly red-flagged after Bernardo Pinheiro’s #6 Speedy Motorsport Porsche went off and hit the barriers. The driver was unharmed, and barrier repairs delayed the restart.

Racing resumed behind the safety car with 39 minutes to go. The #81 BMW led the 29-car field as the green flag waved, followed by the #5 Toyota and the #77 Aston Martin; the top three began to pull away from the rest of the pack.

De los Milagros ran consistent 1:39.0 laps and pulled a one-second gap to Guedes, while Martins and Batina battled for third. With the pit handicap in mind, the BMW needed to stretch its lead — but Guedes stayed close, with both front-runners gaining time on the chasing group.

On lap 13, De los Milagros pitted and handed over to Martí. The 10-second handicap meant Nerea rejoined behind the #5 Toyota, now driven by José Carlos Pires, and side-by-side with Roberto Faria’s Aston Martin. Nerea fought hard under braking and used traffic to her advantage, but Faria got ahead after a few corners. Martí then settled into third with 18 minutes to go.

She moved up to second when Pires suffered issues in the leading Toyota; Nerea meanwhile pulled away from Guillermo Aso and Francisco Abreu behind. Martí and Faria were the only drivers running in the 1:41s, and Nerea closed the gap as Faria hit traffic. With strong, consistent laps, she reduced the deficit to just one second.

However, just as the battle for the win intensified, the race was red-flagged due to several cars going off.

Martí was classified second — capping off a stellar weekend with a win and a runner-up finish, her most productive outing in Iberian Supercars to date.

After a tough season opener, the Jarama weekend marked a turning point for Martí and her BMW España Motorsport team. The results reflected their hard work and dedication, and they now head into the next round with renewed momentum.

With a healthy haul of points, Martí will return to home soil for the third round at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia on 13–14 September — a track where she feels most at home and will aim to continue her strong form.
