Spanish racing star Nerea Martí will launch NM Motorsport, a karting team competing in the Spanish Championship as well as regional series aimed at developing the talents of tomorrow.
Spanish racer Nerea Martí has taken her involvement in motorsport a step further and launched her own racing team: NM Motorsport by Nerea Martí, which will be racing in the Spanish Karting Championship as well as the Valencian Community Karting Championship and other regional series.
The 21-year-old Valencian contested her second seacon in the all-female W Series championship in 2022, taking a pole position and two podiums - as well as her rookie campaign in touring cars. At the wheel of the BMW M2 CS Racing operated by BMW Spain, she was crowned champion in the CER - Spanish Endurance Championship.
Nerea's connection and involvement in karting has always remained a very important part of her racing career, even after moving to race cars.
Her passion for the sport started after her father and her uncle opened a karting centre in Albalat dells Sorells, just outside Valencia. As soon as she stepped in one of the karts herself, Martí soon became official driver for Praga España Motorsport.
Having made her single-seater debut in 2019 in the Spanish Formula 4, Nerea Martí was immediately selected to join the W Series field, just as the 2020 season was cancelled for the pandemic. Martí would then return to karting, contesting the Spanish Championship in the KZ category.
She continued to race part time in karting also in 2021, when she eventually made her W Series debut and finished fourth in the championship, as the best rookie.
Often helping and coaching younger drivers, Nerea Martí will now take on both the driver and adviser role within NM Motorsport, which aims to train and develop future stars of the sport.
"I am very happy with this new project for the 2023 season", Nerea commented. "It was born with great enthusiasm and we are going to work 100% to give our best."
At the helm of NM Motorsport will also be Nerea's father, Miguel Martí, who has led other teams in recent years and won several titles. The outfit will rely on the support of Birel Art for its chassis, as well as the pool of talents from Karting Horta Nord.
