Nerea Martí made her W Series debut in 2021, after just one previous season in formula cars and, as one of the youngest drivers on the grid, she was selected for the W Series Academy project together with Irina Sidorkova - which granted them a two-year seat in the all-female championship.

Martí impressed with a stunning season and finished all the races within the top-10. She claimed her first top-5 at Silverstone and stepped on the podium for the first time at Hungaroring, fourth round of the season. At Zandvoort she was again close to a podium finish and ultimately ended in fourth place in the drivers' championship - by far the best rookie of 2021.

Martí - who has also driven a Formula E car on her home track at Circuito Ricardo Tormo in Valencia at the beginning of the year - has been announced as part of the first ever official BMW Spain Motorsport team for the upcoming BMW M2 CS Racing Winter Series and the Spanish Endurance Championship - thus making her touring car debut.

It will be the first time for Nerea at the wheel of a closed-cockpit vehicle, and will share the BMW M2 with José Manuel de los Milagros.

She will first hit the track next week in preparation for the Winter Cup in Portimão on 11/12 December.

“I am very happy for the opportunity that BMW Spain has given me." - commented 19-year-old Nerea. "Little by little we are closing deals with the goal of becoming a professional driver. It is great to be able to try different categories in Motorsport, but above all to begin to see results after many years of work", she added.

"I am very happy and looking forward to starting the season."

Alongside her first touring car commitments in 2022, the Valencian driver will continue to combine her program with W Series, where she will be back for a second season in the all-female championship.
