Like many top motorsport athletes, Spanish driver Nerea Martí has a close bond with karting and has continued to race at the highest levels even after making progress in single seaters.

At the start of 2023, Martí launched her own karting team, NM Motorsport, which has been active in the Spanish Karting Championship as well as in other regional series.

In between her W Series and then F1 Academy commitments, Nerea herself is a consistent presence on the Spanish karting tracks with continuous success.

Last weekend, the young Valencian - who has raced in the inaugural season of the F1 Academy championship with Campos Racing, collecting six podiums and a race win - entered her first international race of the 2024 season, the Hivern Karting of the Valencian Karting Championship, held at the Lucas Guerrero circuit in Chiva. The aim was clearly to take the title in the premier category, the KZ class.

Nerea has prepared with consistency, as her karting outings are obviously also part of her training for the upcoming racing season, where she is scheduled to race in several international programs. Alongside her on-track preparation, Martí continues to train at the Specialized Motor Sports Technology Center of the Circuit Ricardo Tormo (CETDM).

“I am focused on preparing this season both in the CETDM and on the track on every possible occasion", Nerea commented. having also finished second in the LeCont Trophy.

At the 1.428 metre long Kartódromo Lucas Guerrero circuit, close to her native Valencia, Nerea had front-running pace all weekend. During the final, though, she was forced to perform a remarkable recovery drive from the back of the pack after being involved in an accident in the opening stages.

Making up position after position, Martí set the fastest lap of the race and eventually finished in fourth place, just missing out on a podium. With fourth place, Nerea proved that she's ready for the challenges of her 2024 programs.
