Driver/owner Samantha Tan announced another major development for her ST Racing team, as the Canadian outfit will make its GTWC Europe debut at the upcoming 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps - one of the biggest events in the world of GT racing.
After a stunning season in 2021, Samantha Tan Racing made headlines in its first international campaign, taking overall and GT4 class titles in the CREVENTIC 24H Series, as driver/owner Samantha Tan was also crowned drivers' champion, female trophy champion and junior champion.
Tan then announced her team would move to the GT3 platform in 2022 - in a double campaign in the 24H Series alongside her debut in GT World Challenge America. Tan received the first global delivery of the new BMW M4 GT3, which made its debut at the 24H of Dubai.
The Dubai endurance classic was a big test for both ST Racing and BMW, as everyone learned the secrets of the new machine. At Mugello - the first round of the CREVENTIC's European season – Samantha Tan Racing made history and took a dominant victory which marked the first global win for the new BMW M4 GT3.
Tan would also join the North American championship of Ferrari Challenge, where she impressed straight away with class pole positions and a victory.
Despite having to miss the second round of the GT World Challenge America season at NOLA Motorsports Park this weekend - as well as the next Ferrari Challenge meeting at Watkins Glen due to logistics challenges, Samantha announced one of the biggest developments for her team to date: the entry at the 24 Hours of Spa.
"Due to the continuing supply-chain challenges resulting in delayed delivery of crucial spare parts and equipment, we are very disappointed to announce that we will not be at
GTWC at NOLA nor Ferrari Challenge Watkins Glen this upcoming weekend", she wrote via her social media channels.
"However, I am thrilled to announce our official participation in the 24 Hours of Spa later this year!"
The TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa is widely considered as one of the world's top GT racing events in the world and features the most competitive teams and drivers in the industry.
Samantha's participation in the iconic race represents a further step towards her goal of climbing the ranks of international GT racing and one day becoming the first Asian woman to win the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
ST Racing will run its BMW M4 GT3 in a Silver Cup entry, but Samantha's teammates are expected to be announced in due course. It will be their first ever participation in the SRO-sanctioned GT World Challenge Europe.
The 2022 edition of the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa is scheduled for 28-31 July, preceded by two days of testing on 21-22 June.
