The Female Side of Dakar 2022: Introduction

It's that time of the year: the Dakar Rally, the most famous off-road race. Two weeks, over 8,000 kilometres of sand and dunes - and a strong female participation on the huge starting field. Here are the women of the 44th edition of Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.

2022 is a go and it's that time of the year for the most famous off road rally in the world - the Rally Dakar. The 44th edition is the third running in the desert of Saudi Arabia, with two scheduled weeks full of sand and dunes, adding up to 8.375 kilometers of stages for the impressive number of 4.258 participants registered. And among them, 52 women will aim to finish the hardest competition of the year.

The first stage will start tomorrow 2nd January and will lead through twelve days of racing - with a rest day on 8th January - until the final day on 14th January.

Today we saw the prolog to set the starting order for the first stage tomorrow, representing the first 19 kilometers to test the skills and the vehicles on the new ground from Jeddah to Hail.

No less than 52 female drivers will start the Rally Dakar 2022; 19 drivers, 32 co-drivers and one mechanic on a truck. Here is a list of all the female starters. We will discover them in the next posts during the event.
