With a brilliant drive at Super Óvalo Potosino, Alexandra Mohnhaupt battled solidly for a top-five before late contact dropped her to eighth in the latest round of the Trucks Mexico Series.

Round nine of the 2025 Trucks Mexico Series brought the field to the Super Óvalo Potosino, where the three female drivers of the series – Valeria Aranda, Alexandra Mohnhaupt, and Sol Díaz – lined up with high hopes. It proved to be a weekend of mixed fortunes, with Mohnhaupt delivering another strong drive despite late heartbreak, while both Aranda and Díaz saw their races end prematurely.
Coming off a runner-up finish at Autódromo Miguel E. Abed, Aranda remained firmly in the championship hunt, holding third in the standings after a stellar season. She returned to Super Ovalo Potosino – where she had finished third earlier this year – aiming to extend her streak of podium results.
Mohnhaupt had been improving steadily throughout her rookie campaign, becoming a consistent top-ten contender and edging ever closer to the top five. Leading the rookie standings and sitting inside the overall top ten in points, she targeted another big points haul. Fourteen-year-old Díaz continued to learn quickly in her first season, focusing on gaining experience in the midfield.
Mohnhaupt began the weekend positively, placing inside the top ten in practice and showing competitive pace once again. She would start from seventh on the grid. Aranda lined up in a promising third position, putting her in a prime spot to challenge for another podium. Díaz would be starting from 14th, ready to fight through the pack.

The race got off to a dramatic start: as the green flag waved, Aranda’s challenge ended almost immediately when contact sent her into the inside wall in Turn 1, resulting in damage. She was forced to pit at the end of the opening lap, losing two laps in the process.
Mohnhaupt avoided the chaos ahead and gained a position to run sixth, while Díaz also made progress, moving up to 12th. Aranda rejoined the race, but her early setback left her with a mountain to climb.
At the front, Girón led from Rodríguez and Espinosa, while Mohnhaupt settled into seventh, battling with Torre and Fonseca. The lead fight was intense, with Rodríguez eventually finding a way past Girón through heavy lapped traffic by lap 20. Further back, Aranda worked her way past Limón into 15th, while Díaz carefully navigated the leaders lapping her, managing the situation well to maintain position.
Mohnhaupt continued to run consistently, holding position between seventh and eighth. The first caution came on lap 28 when Rodríguez’s #9 truck spun.
On the restart, Mohnhaupt took the outside line and made a bold move to briefly challenge for fourth before settling into fifth place. Díaz gained to 13th after passing Maggio, while Aranda held 15th but still needed to recover one more lap.
The opening stage ended on lap 40 with Novelo and De La Rosa nearly making contact in the battle for third. Mohnhaupt crossed the line fifth, scoring important rookie championship points.
During the stage caution, most drivers pitted. Mohnhaupt rejoined in seventh and again chose the outside lane for the restart. Díaz broke into the top ten, while Aranda gambled by staying out to regain a lap, climbing to 12th.
On the restart, Mohnhaupt quickly moved up to sixth. Aranda’s recovery continued as she broke into the top ten by lap 50 despite carrying damage from the start. She passed Fonseca and Maggio to move into eighth by lap 60, showing strong pace.
Mohnhaupt also overtook Torre to reclaim fifth and began closing rapidly on De La Rosa, running right on his bumper in an almost bump-drafting style action.
Aranda’s however charge came to an abrupt halt on lap 80 when her #27 truck slowed to a stop, bringing out another caution and ultimately forcing her into retirement.
Mohnhaupt restarted from the front row after again opting for the outside lane. When the green flag waved on lap 87, she went wide in Turn 1 and slipped back to sixth, but a few laps later she executed a clean move down the inside to retake fifth from De La Rosa.

As she closed in on Torre for fourth, disaster struck with only a handful of laps remaining. Contact from Novelo sent Mohnhaupt spinning into the inside wall. She sustained heavy bodywork damage but managed to rejoin the race. The incident brought out a red flag, after which she restarted seventh for the overtime finish.
Despite the damage, Mohnhaupt again chose the outside lane for the final restart. This time, the wounded truck could not match the pace of those ahead, and she slipped to eighth at the flag – still a commendable result given the circumstances, though a top-five finish had slipped through her fingers.
Rodríguez took the victory ahead of Espinosa and Girón. Mohnhaupt’s eighth-place finish still earned her valuable points in both the overall and rookie standings. For Aranda and Díaz, the race ended in disappointment – both failing to finish, classified in 14th and 15th respectively.
Mohnhaupt’s performance however once again highlighted her rapidly growing racecraft, as she continues to lead the rookies standings as the series approaches the playoffs. The next round is scheduled for 21 September at Queretaro.
