Vicky Farfus continued her steady progression through her rookie Ginetta Junior Championship campaign at Snetterton, converting promising pace into three point-scoring finishes and once again improving her personal best result. The Paradine Competition driver followed up her breakthrough weekend at Zandvoort with another consistent display, recovering from a difficult qualifying session to finish 11th, 18th and 18th across the three races.
Having graduated directly from karting into her first full season of car racing, Farfus has increasingly improved over the championship. Her latest performance at Snetterton provided further evidence of that development, with the Brazilian demonstrating both the pace to run inside the top 15 and the racecraft required to navigate some particularly chaotic races.
Farfus had already shown encouraging speed during the pre-event test at Snetterton, regularly featuring inside the top ten and suggesting that the technical Norfolk circuit could provide another opportunity to make progress. However, she was unable to fully translate that pace into qualifying, ending the session 19th with a best lap of 2:22.402.
That left Farfus with some of work to do in Race 1, but the opening contest quickly became a race of survival. Starting from 19th, Farfus immediately found herself in the middle of the action. Doughty and Radcliffe both ran into trouble during the opening lap, allowing the Brazilian to gain a couple of positions, before a major multi-car accident on the second lap brought the race to an immediate red flag.
Farfus emerged unscathed from the incident, having expertly avoided the cars involved in the accident, and was classified as high as 13th when the race was neutralised.
After a lengthy stoppage to clear the circuit and reorganise the field, the race eventually resumed with 16 minutes remaining. Farfus was initially placed back in 19th as several of the cars involved in the earlier incident were able to return to the grid, but she quickly demonstrated that her pace was considerably stronger than her qualifying position suggested.
Running in the 2:21s, she joined a close midfield battle involving Brass, Radcliffe and Doughty. Farfus made her first decisive move by passing Radcliffe for 15th and immediately found herself in a three-wide battle, holding her position while continuing to apply pressure to Brass, who was only two tenths ahead.
The race was interrupted again on Lap 3 when Ashcroft suffered a heavy crash, bringing out the Safety Car. Once more, Farfus reacted perfectly to the incident, avoiding the stricken car and the secondary contact that followed. Her clean driving was rewarded as she moved up to 11th with only four minutes remaining.
The race was ultimately red-flagged again after just four laps following the restart, meaning no further opportunities to progress were available. Nevertheless, Farfus took the chequered flag in 11th place, improcving her strongest result of the season to date - previouslt a 12th place secured at the previous round in Zandvoort.
Race 2 provided a new challenge. Starting from 20th, Farfus initially lost two positions during the opening lap but quickly settled into another midfield battle, this time with Robinson and Ashcroft. Her pace improved steadily, with a 2:23.1 lap allowing her to close the gap ahead before she went wheel-to-wheel with Robinson.
On Lap 3, Farfus completed a double move on Robinson and Vaux to climb to 20th, putting herself at the head of a train of cars while attempting to close the roughly two-second gap to the group further ahead.
The Brazilian subsequently found herself in clear air and was able to continue building pace, but an excursion off circuit temporarily halted her progress. Farfus rejoined two positions lower in 21st, although the tightly packed field meant that she remained within striking distance of the cars ahead.
She immediately fought back, passing Robinson and Vaux once again to recover 19th place. From there, her pace continued to improve, with a 2:22.1 lap allowing her to close on Radcliffe while simultaneously opening a gap to the cars behind.
The battle continued all the way to the final lap, with Farfus remaining close enough to Radcliffe to launch one final attack. She successfully completed the move through the final corners to secure 18th place, adding another recovery drive to her growing list of strong midfield performances.
Farfus lined up 18th for the weekend's final race, having shown competitive pace earlier in the day and hoping to continue moving forward. She immediately went on the attack, passing Doughty at the start, although the pair remained locked in a fierce wheel-to-wheel battle through the opening lap. Doughty eventually regained the position, leaving Farfus 18th after the first lap, with Darling also joining the fight.
The battle quickly developed into one of the closest groups on track. Farfus defended from Darling while matching her pace, with six cars covered by only a handful of tenths as the midfield repeatedly shuffled.
Although she could not immediately find a way past Brass, Farfus maintained a safe margin over Darling and continued to apply pressure ahead. A 2:22.3 lap on Lap 5 brought her another half-second closer to Brass, setting up another opportunity to attack.
However, the battle ahead eventually changed the order. Brass ran wide and went around, allowing Darling to seize the opportunity and move past Farfus. The Brazilian remained in 18th and attempted to respond during the closing laps, but the gap was ultimately too large to recover before the chequered flag.
Farfus therefore completed the weekend with 11th, 18th and 18th-place finishes, giving her three point-scoring results and another important step forward in her rookie campaign.
The 11th-place finish in Race 1 represented another improvement on her previous personal best, continuing a particularly encouraging trend across the last rounds.
With the championship entering its final stages, Farfus is now showing increasingly convincing evidence that the experience accumulated during her first season in cars is beginning to translate into results. The Ginetta Junior Championship will return to action at Donington Park on September 5–6, where Farfus will look to continue that upward trajectory and make another push towards her first career top-10 finish.
