Amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic, W Series moves its pre-season test from Circuit Ricardo Tormo to the Wales venue of Anglesey, pushing the date to mid-May.
The female-only W Series championship was scheduled to start its pre-season collective tests in a five-day meeting at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia, on 26-30 April.
"W Series has revised its schedule due to challenges presented by the ongoing global pandemic" – reads a statement from the series, that now confirms that the test will be moved to a later date in mid-May at the Wales venue of Anglesey.
We'll thus have to wait until 17-21 May to see the Tatuus T-318 cars of the 18 selected drivers to hit the track again, after they last raced at the 2019 season finale at Brands Hatch.
The Spanish circuit of Valencia was also expected to host the collective tests in April 2020, before the Covid19 outbreak halted the world.
Once an abandoned army camp, the Anglesey circuit was converted into a motor racing venue in the early 90s and then completely rebuilt into its current 3.4 km configuration in 2006.
While the pandemic situation remains uncertain all around Europe, lockdown restrictions have begun to be eased across the UK. Scotland and Wales have recently experienced relaxations of rules.
The first race of the 2021 W Series season is scheduled for 26th June at Le Castellet, France, as the series will start its partnership with Formula 1 at selected events.
