Young Spanish talent Alba Vazquez will make her debut in the GT-CER (Spanish Endurance Championship) series this weekend at Navarra, as she steps up from the national touring car series CET.

"After a long months of ups and downs, with many options on the table this season, I finally announce that I will run the Spanish Endurance Championship (GT-CER) with a Clio V of Motorismo Racing Team. One more year with this great family who betted on me in the CET in 2022 and we achieved great things."

In 2022, 19-year-old Vazquez made her racing debut in race cars after graduating from karting and had a very positive debut season, scoring six podiums over 5 race meetings.

She made series' history at Navarra, where she became the first woman to take victory in CET, when she stepped on top of the podium in the second race of the weekend.

As a result, Vazquez remained in the title fight until the season finale in Barcelona, eventually finishing third in the drivers' championship. With a remarkably consistent season at debut, the Asturian driver of the Honda Civic Type R CET operated by MRT also claimed the Female Trophy title.

Returning to MRT, Vazquez will therefore step up GT-CER in 2022, at the wheel of the Renault Clio Cup V for the six event-calendar that includes rounds at Navarra, Portimao, Motorland Aragon, Valencia Ricardo Tormo, Jerez and Circuit de Catalunya for the traditional season finale.

Each weekend will feature two practice sessions, a qualifying and 2 48 minute + 1 lap races, with the exception of the Aragon and Barcelona meetings, that will have one 2-hour races.

Alba will share the car with Ivan Hernandez Gonzalez in the D3 class.

"I can only thank Gabriel Alonso for making this possible and those great sponsors and entities that are behind", Vazquez added. "Next weekend the action starts at Navarra with the first round."

Returning to the venue of her first overall win in CET, Vazquez will start her new journey in endurance racing. The GT-CER races will be streamed live on the series' Youtube channel.
