IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge racer Christine Sloss stormed to victory at the fourth annual Corkscrew Hillclimb at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, becoming the event’s first-ever female winner.
Piloting her Ferrari SF90 XX Spider, Sloss delivered a remarkable run of 29.535 seconds on the unique reverse-course layout, beating a field of 15 competitors. Her performance secured the top step of the podium and set new records for a road-legal production car, hybrid vehicle, and convertible at the event. Sloss bested Ned Bacon in a 1975 Porsche 911 RSR and Gardner Nichols in a 2025 Rivian Gen 2 Quad-Motor R1T, who completed the podium in second and third place, respectively.
The Corkscrew Hillclimb challenges entrants to take on Laguna Seca’s legendary turns in reverse, starting from the Start/Finish line, negotiating Turn 11, and charging uphill to the top of the Corkscrew. This year’s contest showcased an diverse mix of machinery, from the Pikes Peak–conquering Rivian R1T to a 2022 Toyota Supra and a 1958 Austin Healey 110-6.
While Sloss’s Ferrari hypercar made history by setting a new record for production-based entries, the overall course record still belongs to Max Chilton, who clocked a 21.958-second run in the all-electric McMurtry Spéirling.
The Corkscrew Hillclimb serves as the curtain-raiser for a week of historic racing in Monterey, with the 51st Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion set for August 13–16, featuring more than 400 historic vehicles from nearly every era.
Sloss’s Hillclimb triumph comes in the midst of her rookie season in IMSA-sanctioned racing. Contesting the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge in the GS Bronze Cup category with the #15 Van Der Steur Aston Martin Vantage GT4 alongside her husband Ben Sloss, she has quickly established herself as a consistent front-runner in the series.
This season has already brought multiple podium finishes, including her first Bronze class victory at Watkins Glen, followed by a second win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. She currently sits second in the Bronze Cup standings after adding another podium at Road America.
