Emma Wigroth, 21, is set to make her LMP3 debut in 2026, stepping up to international prototype competitions with Gebhardt Motorsport after two consecutive third-place finishes in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia.

The Swedish driver’s move represents a significant progression in her career, transitioning from one-make GT competitions to endurance-style prototype racing. As part of the programme, Wigroth will also join the Gebhardt Young Driver Academy, further embedding her within the German squad’s development structure.

Wigroth made the leap from karting to single seaters in 2021, and one year later became the first woman to win a race in Formula Nordic. In 2024, Wigroth switched to GT racing and competed in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia with a GT4 Cayman, finishing third in the standings twice.

“We are very happy to welcome Emma to our team and to the Gebhardt Young Driver Academy,” says team manager Fritz Gebhardt.

“She has already achieved great success in Swedish motorsport. Now she is taking the step to LMP3 racing with us and we are really looking forward to seeing how she will perform there.”

Wigroth’s competitive debut in LMP3 machinery will take place at Hockenheim in May, where she will race a Duqueine D08 LMP3 in the Velom Watches Sportscar Supercup. The event - which will be an invitational race for first and second generation LMP3 prototypes, featuring two half-hour races - will provide her first opportunity to measure herself against an international field in prototypes.

“When I visited the team in December to explore the possibilities, everything felt right from the start and I am both proud and grateful for the opportunity to be part of Gebhardt Motorsport,” says Wigroth.

“It is a dream come true to drive an LMP3 car. It is a new challenge for me, but I am ready to give my best and develop as a driver together with the team.”

Throughout the season, Wigroth will benefit from the guidance of Stanley Dickens, the former Le Mans 24 Hours winner, who will act as her mentor as she adapts to the challenges of LMP3 racing.

With a new car, a new championship and the backing of an experienced prototype outfit, Wigroth’s 2026 campaign can be a major opportunity as she embarks on the next phase of her racing career.
