The Marrakesh Formula E rookie test will take place on Sunday 1st March after the Marrakesh ePrix and Jamie Chadwick has been announced as one of the Panasonic Jaguar Racing drivers. Chadwick is the second woman to be entered in the test after fellow W-Series racer Alice Powell, who joined Envision Virgin Racing.

Chadwick was the first woman and youngest driver to win the British GT Championship, as well as the first lady to win a British F3 race. After those achievements, she went on to make more history by becoming the first ever female winner of the MRF Challenge series in Chennai, India.

In 2019, Jamie Chadwick famously claimed the title in the inaugural W Series season, the first all-female championship in single-seaters, by collecting an impressive 5 podium finishes out of the 6 races on calendar. This winter, Chadwick has been accumulating single-seater experience by taking part in the Asian F3 championship, where she scored two podiums last weekend in Sepang, Malaysia. She now stands 8th in the overall driver's classify, ahead of the last round in Buriram, Thailand next weekend.

The young British driver has also been announced as a Development Driver for Williams F1 Team in 2020, extending her 2019 role with the squad. She will join the team's operations at selected Formula 1 race weekends, representing her team and collecting more experience that will certainly reveal valuable for her career. With the same aim to establish herself as one of the leading junior drivers in motorsport, Chadwick will try to make the most out of the Formula E rookie test in Marrakesh later this year.

"I’m thrilled to be joining the Panasonic Jaguar Racing team for the official rookie test event in Marrakesh." - commented 21-year old Chadwick.

"I’m a huge fan of Formula E and everything that it stands for so to be teaming up with this race winning outfit is an incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to get in the car and work closely with the team to have a successful test.”

"It is great to welcome Jamie on board as one of our rookie test drivers." - added James Barclay, Panasonic Jaguar Racing Team Director.

"After proving her ability on track during the W Series, we’re excited to see her step up and see what she can do in the Jaguar I-TYPE 4. She will bring us some critical insights for the development of the racecar and I’m looking forward to working with Jamie in Marrakesh”.

Formula E allowed an extra-slot for teams that lined up a female driver at last year's rookie test in Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, but so far only three women did take the start of a race event. Hopefully, one day Jamie Chadwick and Alice Powell will follow Katherine Legge, Michela Cerruti and Simona De Silvestro into this list.

In Jamie's words:

"I’m a huge fan of Formula E and everything that it stands for so to be teaming up with this race winning outfit is an incredible opportunity."
