EuroNASCAR will have five women in its EN2 division in 2022, as Italian Luli Del Castello joins the field at the wheel of the #54 CAAL Racing Chevrolet Camaro.

Del Castello, 37, will compete in both the Rookies and Lady trophies as well, sharing the car with 2015 EN2 champion and EN Pro title contender Gianmarco Ercoli.

She will tackle for the first time the 400 hp stock car and will thus have to learn the secrets of the new machinery - but the fast lady has often proved to be a fast learner and adapt to a wide variety of race cars.

“I was contacted by CAAL Racing for an ambitious project and I had been curious about the championship for some time”, said Del Castello. “I decided to take this opportunity and go beyond my usual boundaries."

The Italian has so far raced only on home soil but has a good experience of both touring cars and GT racing, having competed in series such as Super Cup Trophy and Supercars Series. Last year, she entered selected rounds of the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Italy.

"I want to broaden my skills and improve to achieve my goals and entertain the amazing NASCAR fans", she continued. "It’s the first time for me racing in a European series outside my home country and it’s a new championship I’m going to discover."

"I have no expectations as I just want to compete with strong drivers to prove my worth. My goal is to surprise the other competitors!”

Luli Del Castello joins EuroNASCAR 2 division's 37-car field alongside four other female racers: EuroNASCAR veteran Arianna Casoli - who moved from CAAL Racing to SpeedHouse for the 2022 campaign and will race in the #14 Ford Mustang; Austrian Alina Loibnegger, who returns to EN2 for her second season in the series, in the #25 Not Only Motorsport's Chevrolet Camaro - and the Koloc sisters, who will compete in both EN Pro and EN 2 classes. Aliyyah Koloc and Yasmeen Koloc (both Buggyra ZM Racing) are quickly expanding their racing experiences, having competed at international level in off-road racing, GT3, GT4 and now stock cars.

Relying on one of the series top teams' expertees, Luli Del Castello will try to seal the conquer the team's first ever Rookie title, which would add up to two EuroNASCAR Pro championships, four Junior trophies, one Challenger trophy and three Lady trophies - claimed by Casoli in 2016, 2019 and 2021.

The first race of the season is scheduled in two week's time at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia (14-15 May) and will be broadcasted throughout the series' social media platforms and Motorsport.tv
