Established Polish karter Michalina Sabaj will make her car racing debut in the 2024 Italian Sport Prototype Championship, where she will drive the new Wolf GB08 Raiden.
Polish karting driver Michalina Sabaj is set to become the third female driver to compete in the Italian Sport Prototype Champion in the last few years: after Brazilian Kaka Magno (2021) and Sonia Roussel (2023), Sabaj will make her debut at the wheel of the Wolf prototype, therefore stepping up from karting competitions.
20-year-old Michalina has been climbing the karting ladder in recent years, both on home soil in Poland and on the European scene, including outings in Italy, Belgium and Hungary.
In 2019, she was among the winners of the FIA Women in Motorsport's Girls On Track Karting Challenge initiative; she then won the ROK Cup Poland in the Master category in 2021 - and was a front runner in the ROK Cup World Final in Lonato in the same year.
Subsequently, the young Polish racer carried out a testing program in F4 machinery - in both the first generation Tatuus and then the new T421 car. Sabaj then tested the Wolf GB08 Thunder machine run by Avelon Formula, before she eventually confirmed her presence on the 2024 grid. Sabaj is expected to drive the brand new Wolf GB08 Raiden car.
The new car, again manufactured by Wolf Racing Cars, will have increased downforce, a more powerful engine - the Aprilia 1.1 engine - and even higher safety, with the introduction of the Halo.
The Italian Sport Prototype Championship is scheduled to run a 6 event calendar, featuring iconic racetracks such as Misano, Pergusa, Mugello, Imola, Vallelunga and Monza - which will host the season finale in October. The first round will be at Misano World Circuit on 3-5 May.
