Taylor Ferns will join Abel Motorsports for an oval campaign in the current Indy NXT season. The 28 year old driver from Detroit is well known for her successes in USAC, including many race wins and championship titles in a wide variety of racing and cars.

She made progress through the ranks of USAC, racing in Midgets, Sprint Cars and Silver Crown. History was made several times along the path, with her name being written among the greatest of the sport: she became the youngest woman to win a Sprint Car race, the first woman to win USAC Midget and Sprint Car races at multiple tracks among the others.

But Fern is also an ambassador and founding member of Women in Motorsport North America, and is a prominent figure in advocating for women in the sport. She also earned a bachelor of business administration in finance and economics from Grand Valley State University, as well as a master of business administration from Wayne State University´s Mike Ilitch School of Business.

“I’m so grateful to Abel Motorsports and everyone who helped put this together,” Ferns said. “Excited is an understatement. INDY NXT has been on my radar for several years, and I’m so happy to have it come to fruition, especially with partners like Bradford Allen (a Chicago-based full-service real estate firm) believing in me and giving me the resources to fulfill a lifelong dream."

"I know the team has been strong on ovals, with Jacob (Abel) taking pole at Iowa last year, so I know we will have a strong effort.” - Taylor Ferns commented.

She will be the third woman to enter the 2024 Indy NXT season, joining full time drivers Jamie Chadwick (Andretti Autosport) and rookie Lindsay Brewer (Juncor Hollinger Racing).

Ferns' season will start at Iowa on the 13th of July, followed by World Wide Technology Raceway (17th August), Milwaukee Mile (31st August) and Nashville Superspeedway (15th September).
