The sixth round of the Trucks México Series at Querétaro was another positive one for two of the three female drivers in the championship, with Valeria Aranda securing another top-five finish and Alexandra Mohnhaupt nearly matching her personal best and finishing as the top rookie.

After a very disrupted race at Autódromo de Querétaro, Valeria Aranda secured another top-five finish, adding important points to her Trucks México Series campaign. Having run at the front in most rounds so far, she is clearly closing in on her first victory in the series.

Alexandra Mohnhaupt, in contention for the Rookie of the Year title, finished once again in the top ten after a strong run—nearly matching her personal best and finishing as the top rookie, despite battling an illness.

The sixth round of the Trucks México Series at Querétaro was therefore another positive one for two of the three female drivers in the championship, with Sol Díaz unfortunately caught in an unavoidable accident.

All three female drivers on the grid have made significant progress lately. Returning driver Valeria Aranda is now a consistent front-runner; Alexandra Mohnhaupt, transitioning from single-seaters—where she claimed multiple F4 NACAM race victories—is learning quickly. In her rookie season in a vastly different form of racing, she continues to improve and recently secured her first top-five finish at Aguascalientes Óvalo.

Thirteen-year-old Sol Díaz also claimed her personal best with a remarkable sixth-place finish at round five—her second top-ten in just a few races—as she makes her race car debut after stepping up from karting.

Aranda, already a two-time podium finisher this season, is clearly chasing her first win, showing pace at every round despite occasional misfortune. At the previous round, she battled for the win until the final laps, when she was tagged and picked up a puncture that denied her another podium.

At Querétaro, track action started with practice on Saturday. Aranda was quickly inside the top ten with a strong lap. Mohnhaupt again showed the pace to fight in the top ten—and was 11th fastest in practice as she remains in contention for Rookie of the Year. Díaz set the 17th-fastest time.

In qualifying, Aranda delivered another outstanding performance, securing second on the grid, just behind Carlos Novelo, who took pole. Mohnhaupt also impressed with a ninth-fastest time, confirming her top-ten potential with a strong step forward from the start of the season. Sol Díaz also made progress and would line up P11 for Sunday’s 70-lap race.

The green flag waved and Aranda, starting on the outside line, held her position before slotting in behind Novelo. She launched an attack on lap 2, diving down the inside for the lead. Novelo, however, held firm around the outside and maintained the top spot, with Aranda now also defending from Espinosa.

Mohnhaupt had a solid start, dropping to P11 but staying within reach of the top ten. Trouble struck for Sol Díaz on lap 4, as she spun and brought out the first caution. Fortunately, she avoided contact with the barriers and was able to rejoin. The caution prompted early pit stops on lap 6: Mohnhaupt pitted and rejoined in P13. Sol Díaz also pitted after her spin, now two laps down. Worthman suffered engine issues and dropped off the lead lap.

Racing resumed on lap 9, with Aranda on the outside line. Cruz moved up to second behind Novelo - but action was short-lived, though, as De La Rosa retired with an engine failure, spilling fluid on track and bringing out another caution, followed by a red flag for cleanup.

Racing resumed on lap 15. Aranda restarted from P3, taking the inside line. Mohnhaupt was P11 and Díaz P16. Again, the inside proved faster, and Aranda held onto third behind Novelo and Girón. Mohnhaupt fell to P13, while Díaz stayed with the pack despite now being a lap down.

A four-car battle for the lead unfolded as Girón passed Novelo on lap 19. Aranda attempted to follow through but was instead overtaken by Cruz and Espinosa in a tight front pack. Meanwhile, Mohnhaupt made a good run in the midfield, recovering to P10 as the race approached its first stage break on lap 30.

Rodríguez and Girón pulled away slightly, with Cruz, Novelo, and Aranda following close behind. Mohnhaupt ended the first stage in P10, a strong run holding off Rodríguez and closing in on Maggio ahead. Díaz gained one position to finish P15.

During the stage caution, drivers who hadn’t pitted earlier now came in—including Aranda, who dropped to P15 as a result. The strategy paid off for Mohnhaupt, however, who moved up to P4 for the restart. Aranda made a big jump as well, immediately up to P10, before a major crash between Elizondo and Alonso Tato, also involving Sol Díaz, triggered another red flag. Elizondo had spun, Díaz had nowhere to go and collected the truck ahead, then also hit by Tato.

With the race extremely disrupted, cars returned to the track on lap 40, with Mohnhaupt in P8 and Aranda in P10. Aranda took the outside line this time and gained positions. More drama however unfolded on lap 43, with a multi-car crash involving front-runners Mario Ruiz, Paulo Roqueni, Novelo, and Girón. Aranda and Mohnhaupt both escaped unscathed; Aranda moved up to P6, and Mohnhaupt remained in tenth as another caution was deployed.

At the green flag, Aranda quickly rejoined the lead group and Mohnhaupt passed Maggio and advanced to P8, gaining ground on Novelo ahead. Santiago Cruz, running fifth, was shown the black flag for not serving a penalty. Moments later, Santiago Torre, in second, hit the wall at the final corner, triggering another caution on lap 61.

At the lap 66 restart, Aranda seized the opportunity and moved up to fourth, as Mohnhaupt also gained a position and joined the final-lap battle.

Gerardo Rodríguez eventually took the win ahead of Mateo Girón and Roberto Espinosa. Valeria Aranda crossed the line in fourth, securing another strong top-five finish and just off the podium.

Alexandra Mohnhaupt took seventh, nearly matching her personal best from Aguascalientes. It was yet another superb and consistent performance for the rookie, earning valuable points as she finished as the top rookie in the field.

Autódromo Monterrey is set to host the seventh round of the Trucks México Series on July 5th.
