Catalan racer Belén García was among the revelations of the first part of the 2021 W Series championship, as the rookie – at her second season in single seater racing – was quickly on pace and fought for the top-end of the classify. After a fourth place at her series debut in Austria, García then scored points in three other occasions, only missing out on points at Silverstone – when she was spun off on the final lap -and at Spa Francorchamps, as the Scuderia W's driver recovered from the monumental qualifying crash. Part of Belén García's impressive W Series season might also be due to the experience she collected ahead of the start of the all-female championship in June, when she entered the opening rounds of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season, which notably employs the same Tatuus F3 car used in W Series. At the Imola season opener, García re-acclimated with the car after spending the whole 2020 season sidelined due to the pandemic. In race 2, the Spaniard was already making big improvements and battled in the top-20 of one of the most crowded and competitive feeder series in the world. A few contacts in the opening stages prevented her from capitalise on her pace at her home race in Barcelona, but she was back in the G4 Racing's Tatuus at Le Castellet after missing the Monaco round due to W Series commitments, where she continued to log laps and built the foundations for a successful debut in the all-female championship. Belén, who is currently eighth in the W Series standings, often expressed the intention to come back to FRECA to maximise her learning opportunities - and the upcoming Spanish round of Valencia will give her the perfect chance to return to the grid with G4 Racing. The Barcelona-based Swiss team will in fact line up three cars at next weekend's round at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, welcoming back García. With two practice sessions, two qualifying and two races per weekend, Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine provides the 22-year old driver with a good opportunity to log important mileage ahead of the final two events of the W Series season, which is set to resume on 22/23 October at Circuit of the Americas, in conjunction with the US Grand Prix.
