Rising star Doriane Pin has been appointed as development driver for Citroën Racing, as work intensifies on the upcoming GEN4 package for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship - and adding another manufacturer deal to Pin's resumé.

One of the most highly rated young talents in international motorsport, Pin will make her first official appearance with the team during the upcoming Monaco E-Prix double-header weekend, where she will begin her public role supporting Citroën’s Formula E programme.

The appointment marks another significant step in the rapidly rising career of the French driver, who continues to build one of the most diverse résumés among the next generation of female racers. Citroën confirmed that Pin will play an active role in the development and refinement of the team’s future GEN4 Formula E package, contributing to performance optimisation, software calibration and energy management systems ahead of the championship’s next technical era.

Pin has already begun working with the team on the GEN4 simulator programme and is expected to have multiple opportunities to drive Formula E machinery over the coming months.

“I’m really looking forward to this new role and to joining this project,” Pin said. “Formula E is a rapidly growing championship, and it’s both exciting to watch and to drive. I’ve already started working on the GEN4 simulator with the team, which has been a great way of understanding the systems and the driving approach.”

“As a French driver, it’s a special feeling to join Citroën. It’s a brand with a strong motorsport heritage, and being part of that story means a lot. I’m excited to get started and to build something together.”

Citroën Racing Formula E Team Principal Cyril Blais praised the technical qualities Pin brings to the programme.

“Doriane is one of the most promising and complete young drivers we have seen in recent years,” Blais said. “Beyond her results, she brings strong technical insight and a clear ability to translate feedback into performance gains, which is critical in Formula E where we have limited development time.”

“Her involvement in the refinement of our GEN4 package will be extremely valuable as we prepare for the future of the championship. Just as importantly, having a talented young French driver join the team is a proud moment for all of us.”

Pin’s appointment comes during another exceptionally busy season for the 21-year-old French racer. In 2026 she is competing in the European Le Mans Series in the LMP2 category with Duqueine Team and is also set to contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Alongside her endurance racing commitments, she continues to serve as development driver for both the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team and the Peugeot Sport in WEC.

Pin claimed the F1 Academy title in 2025 after finishing runner-up the previous year, having collected multiple victories and podium finishes across her two seasons in the all-female championship.

Before her single-seater success, Pin had already established herself in endurance and GT racing, winning the Ferrari Challenge Europe title and taking victory in the Gold Cup category at the 24 Hours of Spa. She was also named FIA WEC Revelation of the Year in 2023 following an impressive LMP2 campaign that included a podium finish at the 1000 Miles of Sebring.

The announcement further highlights the increasing crossover between top-level junior single-seater talent and Formula E, as manufacturers continue to invest in young drivers capable of combining raw speed with strong technical feedback and simulator development expertise.

Pin is the second woman to have secured a Development Driver role in Formula E's GEN4 era, with Sophia Floersch joining Opel GSE.
